BACKGROUND
        Oriade Local Government with literary translation means “Head of beaded crown Obas” was carved out of the old Obokun Local Government, in 1989 and has its headquarters at Ijebu – Jesa. The Local Government is bounded in the North and its North- West by Obokun Local Government, at the South, by Ondo State, at the South West and South- East by Atakunmosa East and Ilesa East Local Governments respectively.
        The Local Government covers about 60km sq of land mass, stretching from Ere-Ijesa to Dagbaja, Ilo Ayegunle to Eti-Oni. Oriade Local Government is blessed with good road networks e.g Ijebe-jesa to Ilsa-Oriade, Ijebu-Jesa to Ekiti State, and Ijebu-Jesa to Ondo State. Some of the towns in the Local Government are, Ijebu-Jesa, Ipetu-Ijesa, Erin-Ijesa, Iloko, Ijeda, Erin-Oke, Ikeji-Arakeji, Ikeji-Ile, Iwoye, Owena, Dagbaja, Omo-Ijesa, Ilo-Ayegunle, Ere, Eti-Oni, Erimo, and Apoti etc.
         Each town has numerous surrounding villages and clans. The physical features of the council include hills,evergreen rainforest with scattered swamps, rivers, waterfall and living sping at Erin-Ijesa. The soil is very fertile and encourages the cultivation of various types of food crops as well as cash crops.
OCCUPATION
        The people of Oriade local Government are predominated farmers of both arable and cash crops. Among the grown crops include; yams, rice, cassava, beans, potatoes, as food crops while cash crops are cocoa, kola nut, coffee, maize, palm tree from where palm oil and palm kennels are derive.
        More importantly, there are forest reserve for saw milling and other woodwork industries.
        Apart from farming, the women are also engaged in trading, mat weaving at Ipetu-Ijesa and cloth dying at Erin-Oke.
POPULATION
        The population of Oriade Local Government according to 1991census figures indicated that there are 80, 249 people in the entire local government area, although the figures is still highly controversial because the actual number of the people in the local government is strongly believed to be far more than the given figure.
